Mark Gillett re-joined Silver Lake in 2013 after previously serving at the firm from 2009-2011. He is a Managing Director and Chief Operating Partner. Prior to his return to Silver Lake, Mr. Gillett served as Chief Development Officer and Chief Operating Officer for Skype, the global communications platform, driving acceleration of thecompany's growth strategy and leading its integration following Microsoft's acquisition of the business in 2011. Subsequently, as Corporate Vice President at Microsoft, he oversaw the growth of Microsoft's $2.5bn enterprise and consumer communications software and services portfolio, while continuing to lead product innovation and operations for Skype.Prior to joining Skype, Mr. Gillett led value creation for Silver Lake in Europe. He joined the firm from Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), where he was a Managing Director and Partner leading the High Technology, Telecoms and Private Equity practice in Europe. At A&M, he specialized in restructuring and operational diligence, performance improvement and turnaround management of online, consumer and enterprise software and device businesses. While at A&M, he served in interim leadership positions and advisory or operating roles including at Lehman Brothers Holdings International, ADT/Tyco (France), Navigon AG, and iSOFT plc. At A&M, he also led engagements with several leading private equity firms. Mr. Gillett served as a non-executive director for European Directories, a local search and advertising group, through a restructuring, digital transition and sale of the business in 2013. Mr. Gillett is a Fellow of the British Computer Society, a Fellow of the Institute of Directors and Member of the IT Service Management Forum.
