A hybrid hardware/software solution for energy management that works in any home without barriers around permitting and installation. Power outages across the U.S. cost $150B annually. On Avg.500K Americans lose power daily without backup solutions and 84% of Americans are concerned. Existing grid vulnerability is exacerbated by energy transition volatility. The U.S. power grid had the most outages in history in the past two years. Households need power security, and utilities need levers on the smart grid to balance loads and prevent blackouts. Blip envisions a future where every household has access to smart IoT energy storage to provide critical backup power. Blip solves the growing need for reliable energy with the lowest cost energy storage on the global battery market. Simultaneously, this adds millions of otherwise inaccessible customers to the smart grid. Blip's business model reflects current resilience needs, cost savings, and a data-driven future, by wrapping our hardware endpoint with data and grid services.

I graduated from Wharton with a BSc in Economics and began my career as an investment banker. In 2012, I left my cushy job at Morgan Stanley to begin an entrepreneurial adventure. My first startup, TINCO, was a financial services business created to protect investors from the purchasing power destruction of then-unprecedented quantitative easing.Although TINCO failed, it led me to purchase my first Bitcoin in 2013.While building TINCO, I started an advisory business called Satya Management to serve start-ups in the consumer, media & entertainment, and wellness industries.Through a client, I fell in love with the live events industry and decided to start my 2nd company, 90sFest. 90sFest was a live events platform catered to millennials that pioneered the convergence of experiential marketing with mass social media distribution. We sold 90sFest to Scopus Media in 2017.It was at this time that I was hired to try to salvage the now infamous Fyre Festival. Many who saw the Emmy-nominated Netflix documentary, Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened, have called me the “voice of reason.”After Fyre, I saw that my bitcoin investment returned 20x my principal and began deep research on the cryptocurrency industry. I later became Principal at a blockchain-focused venture fund called Wave Financial. I left Wave Financial in 2019 to strike out on my own and continue to advise, coach, and invest in leading entrepreneurs.I once again fell in love with an industry – sustainable agriculture – and now lead business development at Steward.

Robin E. Haak is a German political scientist, tech entrepreneur, operator, and investor with a track record of founding, scaling, and exiting companies—as well as building and managing high-impact funds. He co-founded the AI/ML job matching platform Jobspotting, which later merged with SmartRecruiters. Through the merger, Haak became ashareholder, as well as Global COO and Managing Director of SmartRecruiters, where he built international go-to-market and fundraising operations. Under his leadership the company scaled strongly, surpassing $100M ARR, achieving unicorn status, and was acquired by SAP; SmartRecruiters is now fully integrated into SAP.Beyond that exit, Haak has invested in nearly 100 companies globally, spanning early-stage angel through growth equity. Notable investments include N26 (as the first check investor), Algolia, Aircall, Frontify, Coralogix, Epsor, Planity, Platform.sh, Wo\men Inc., Arx Robotics, and many others. He co-founded Wo\men Inc., a platform advocating for gender equality and diversity in technology, where he contributed as Founder and Chief Marketing Officer.Haak also co-created Revaia, a Paris–Berlin growth equity fund with an ESG and crossover strategy. He was central to raising its first €250 million fund, which has since grown to approximately €600 million assets under management.Today, Haak leads Robin Capital, a Solo GP venture capital firm that has now entered its second fund generation. Starting with €15 million in committed capital in Fund I, Robin Capital has expanded its focus beyond enterprise and B2B SaaS into deeptech, robotics, AI, and highly defensible products. The firm continues to back exceptional founders across Europe, with particular strength in the DACH region. In addition to founding and investing, Haak serves on several boards and advisory roles — including as Advisory Board Member of Slush and Stepstone — leveraging his experience to support founders, guide strategy, and scale businesses.Haak studied Political Science (with emphasis on History, Law, and Theology) at the University of Salzburg, and holds an MBA in Media Management from the Hamburg Media School / University of Hamburg.Outside his professional work, he has a deep interest in viticulture and spends part of each year harvesting grapes at Domaine de la Romanée-Conti in Burgundy, which he sees as a grounding counterpoint to the fast pace of venture capital. He also used to fight Muay Thai in Thailand, still trains regularly, and enjoys traveling, cooking, and reading.

- Homeis — We’ve created Homeis because we know first hand how deep the experience of being foreign-born is. When you ask us what home is, we don’t have an easy answer. It’s complicated. We have the city we chose to live in and call home, and then we have our culture, the country we come from, which we call home as well. And it’s a big part of our identity,it’s who we are.Homeis was created to help people like us, who belong here and there, and feel that the Internet is undeserving them. We’ve witnessed how difficult it is for local foreign-born communities to digitally connect, share their culture, their local knowledge, and unique context. We saw how important these communities are in one’s life, how supportive they can be, and how effective their common wisdom can be to its members. So we decided it’s time to give foreign-born communities a dedicated comprehensive product. A product that understands them really well, and most importantly - empowers them. It’s what we’re here for. While local culture networks have always existed, our mission is to use technology and innovation to turn these invisible groups into visible communities.Homeis was founded in Feb 2017 in NYC and Tel Aviv. We’ve launched our first community in Dec 2017, and are planning to open many more in the next months. As most foreign-born people, we are BIG dreamers. Join us!
