Francis was a co-founder of Basis Software Group (BSG) the company that developed ACCPAC, an accounting software package which was purchased by Computer Associates in 1985. Francis invented the concept of 360-degree customer relationship management (CRM), a concept that continues to be usedtoday to describe the unification of activities across the organization by employees who play a role in the customer relationship. The company released its first customer relationship management product, Pivotal Relationship Version 1, in April 1996; this product is the predecessor to the current Pivotal CRM product line. The company changed its name to Pivotal Corporation in June 1999 to reflect its broadening focus beyond just software into professional services, content, hosted application services and other online services. Pivotal Corporation went public in August 1999 and its shares were listed on the NASDAQ Global Market under the symbol PVTL.In February 2000, Pivotal Corporation was selected by Bill Gates, Microsoft Chairman and Chief Software Architect, to showcase its Pivotal CRM software at the worldwide premiere of Microsoft Windows 2000. Pivotal CRM, then called Pivotal eRelationship, was the first eBusiness relationship management (eBRM) solution to be certified for Windows 2000.Pivotal Corporation was acquired by CDC Corporation, in February 2004. The acquisition added 1,700 customers, as well as marketing, sales, service, and partner management capabilities to CDC Software’s business unit focused on front-office solutions for mid-sized enterprises.

  • LightIntegra Technology, Inc. — LightIntegra Technology is a privately funded medical diagnostics company and launched from the Canadian Blood Services R&D labs through the efforts of research scientist Dr. Elisabeth Maurer. LightIntegra strives to minimize platelet refractoriness. To this end, LightIntegra created ThromboLUX, a rapid in-vitro test that provides sizedistribution information for microparticles in blood products. As a routine test for platelet concentrates, ThromboLUX may identify which platelet units would be best suited for prophylaxis and which units are better suited for therapeutic use. Her years of research on platelet function led to a breakthrough discovery using dynamic light scattering to characterize platelets. Dr. Maurer recognized the opportunity to use this breakthrough - coupled with advances in laser and optics technology – to address a market need to provide a safe, quick and simple diagnostic test for microparticles, platelet quality and function.

There is a $13 billion dollar industry for protecting PC endpoints, but there’s no similar ecosystem for protecting the smart devices used in industries such as energy, medical, and transportation. Multiple vendors, platforms, and geographic locations make the problem complex, yet growing threats to systems and human safety make the need for a solution urgent. Regulation is accelerating this need. With over 50 billion devices connected to the internet, the security market for IoT is projected to reach $74 billion by 2026. This creates a massive opportunity to help critical sectors secure their smart devices. We estimate the annual TAM to be $920 million for the industrial sector alone. The medical, transportation, automotive, and defense sectors present further opportunities.aDolus is the first to market with a solution to analyze and authenticate device software. Early momentum and deep industry ties have yielded a growing database of 32 million records. Our vendor-agnostic platform positions aDolus to capture this lucrative and under-served market.

  • INGU — Currently, inline inspection in the oil and gas sector is a series of staged engineering events, designed to assess the condition of pipeline assets. It is costly, infrequent, and only addresses those lines that are within reach. In fact, it is estimated that 40% of the world’s pipelines are unpiggable. The vulnerabilities between inspections, which are typically years apart, or the inability to conduct inspections at all, puts the world’s aging pipeline infrastructure at risk. In order to address these issues, we have focused on changing the economics, the technology, and the workflow associated with inline inspection. We have introduced the industry’s first self-serve inspection model that eliminates significant engineering and downtime costs. We have developed miniature, multi sensor Pipers® technology that freely flows within any and all active pipelines, regardless of location, condition, material or configuration. This technology is capable of inspecting pipelines as small as 2 inches in diameter, and surveying for leaks, geometric defects, magnetic anomalies, and deposits in a single run. Further, we have reduced the cost of inline inspection by a factor of 10, making it possible for integrity programs to be more present, more often, across all of their assets. Finally, such accessible technology has given us the opportunity to work with a complete range of clients – large and small, private and public – resulting in rich datasets libraries that offer unprecedented contextual analysis and continuous advancement of our data analytics capabilities. Our approach provides clients with uninterrupted access to up-to-date condition-critical data, allowing them to optimize planning, decision-making, and actions.
