Pierre Kosciusko-Morizet
Angel · Paris, Ile-de-France, France · 3 investments in France EdTech startups

Pierre Kosciusko-Morizet is an Internet entrepreneur, founder and former CEO of French e-commerce pioneer PriceMinister. After he sold Priceminister to Japanese internet giant Rakuten in 2010 for $350m, he became Rakuten Europe COO. He left Rakuten in 2014 so as to concentrate on his investments and new project.Pierre Kosciusko-Morizet is agraduate of the famous HEC Paris business school, where he studied entrepreneurship. He launched his first company, Visualis SA (a consultancy for the distribution sector), while still studying at HEC, with a €10,000 student loan. After graduating from HEC, Kosciusko-Morizet moved to the United States and became a manager in the marketing department of Finance Capital One, an internet-based credit card company. There he managed a team of 60 analysts, and specialised in the online credit and banking market. It was there that Kosciusko-Morizet saw a gap in the market. While websites existed in the United States linking buyers and sellers online, there was no equivalent site in France. He resigned from Finance Capital One and returned to France two weeks later to work on what would become PriceMinister with Pierre Krings, Olivier Mathiot, Nathalie Maurin and Justin Ziegler. In 2001 Priceminister launched and has grown into one of the largest and most successful e-commerce companies in France, currently employing around 200 passionate and dedicated staff.Pierre Kosciusko-Morizet is a former President of the ACSEL (Association of the Digital Economy) and of the ASIC (Association of Internet Community Services), and Chairman and main investor of the Strategic Committee of ISAI, the “French internet entrepreneurs fund”, that raised over $100m. In 2010 Kosciusko-Morizet published an autobiographical book which details the story of PriceMinister.

  • Reelevant — Only 1 out of 10 people interact with marketing messages. Content is the bottleneck of personalization, not data. Personalization doesn't work because data are used to create targeted campaigns. Data must be used to create content because content creates interactions and drive conversion. Why: create content for people, not for campaigns(visual is the key to emotions) How: on-demand, when the user request, at the opening/reading/exposure (Pull content vs Push marketing) What: end-to-end widgets solutions like Live content, Individualization, Content Automation, Optimization, etc.Our visual content platform accelerates revenue, creates content based on any data (behavioral, contextual, etc.) created on the fly at the moment of exposure (on any channel (email, web, push notifications, in-app messages, etc.). We take advantage of existing data sources, nothing to create, we supercharge your marketing stack. Our data-driven Content Engine translates data from any source into on-demand visual content in milliseconds for each people. We believe in a new way of thinking about messages by shifting the paradigm of push marketing to transform any data into on-demand visual content. One unique content is created for each people on the fly at the moment people decide to read them (pull content), instead of when marketers decide to create them (push marketing).People are not data points, people don't buy products, they buy emotions. On-demand visual content is the new game!

  • klassroom — Klassroom provides a platform for remote learning, video-conferencing, and homework management in an intuitive format for parents and educators. Klassroom caters specifically to educator needs while offering the level of engagement and ease-of-use found in the most widely used online social platforms. When a teacher starts to use the app in oneclassroom, other teachers in the school join in very quickly and easily. Teachers can create a new class in just minutes, and they invite parents to access posts in the class feed including announcements, homework, videos, pictures of activities, polls, events, documents, and more.Klassroom’s level of parent engagement is outstanding: more than 90% are monthly active users. Parents can react to posts, contact the teacher for appointments, or initiate private conversations using tools that are designed to strengthen parent-teacher relationships while protecting the teacher’s time. Klassroom can translate all posts and private messages between parent and teacher into 100 different languages, and Klassroom can also accommodate the visually impaired. Every parent or guardian can be involved — even across multiple households.Klassroom co-founders Frank-David Cohen and Damien Rottemberg have been friends since childhood and planned that one day they would build something together to make a positive difference in the world. That opportunity came in 2016 when both were divorced dads who found themselves distanced from the education of their children and wanting to be better connected. In Paris and New York respectively, Frank-David and Damien provided the first Klassroom app prototype to the teachers of their young children. The result was the same on both sides of the Atlantic: enthusiastic adoption by the teacher and a 95% parent view rate of all classroom communication.By listening closely to teachers’ needs, Klassroom has maintained a nearly perfect satisfaction rating. The Klassroom app is now used in thousands of English, French and Spanish-speaking classrooms across 30 countries.
