The Association was later restarted in 2001.In 2006, Birger was awarded His Majesty King Harald V’s Gold Medal for Achievement for pioneering the Norwegian venture capital industry.Birger has a law degree (cand. jur) from The University of Oslo, Faculty of Law.

He is a graduate of the Department of Education at Tokyo University.
