Expara IDM Ventures (EIDMV) is a leading provider of incubation and mentorship to early-stage interactive and digital media (IDM) companies in Singapore. EIDMV was one of the first private companies to be appointed as an incubator in the Interactive Digital Media Office (IDMPO)’s iJAM Microfunding Scheme supported by the National ResearchFoundation (NRF) in October 2007. Since then, we’ve invested S$5,000 on top of the S$50,000 disbursement from IDMPO into 16 start-ups. EIDMV’s iJAM I program has been highly successful, exceeding each of its KPIs and generating several of Singapore’s most exciting early-stage IDM companies. The team has a proven track record of successful follow-on fundraising for our incubatees; three companies have raised more than S$1MM in follow-on funding. EIDMV was again reappointed as an incubator in IDMPO’s new iJAM Mircofunding Scheme in April 2012, also known as iJAM Reload. EIDMV II was established late 2012 for the purpose of investment and incubation of future portfolio start-ups. The new scheme allows EIDMV II to match IDMPO’s funding of S$50,000 with an additional S$5,000 in Tier 1(similar to the initial program), followed by S$100,000 to S$100,000 match of IDMPO’s funding in Tier 2. The new management team which includes Douglas Abrams adds to the incubation experience and network which will strongly benefit these portfolio companies. EIDMV has close ties with two entities: Expara Pte Ltd, a venture creation company that develops and teaches entrepreneurship and innovation experiential-exercise-based learning programs for entrepreneurs, start-ups, companies and public institutions in Asia; and Extream Ventures Pte Ltd, an early-stage venture fund supported by NRF under the Early Stage Venture Funding Scheme. Douglas has helped raise S$20 million for Extream Ventures, in which he is one of four GPs.
