Nevomo — Nevomo develops the next generation of High-Speed Railways (HSR), based on magnetic levitation, linear motor and autonomous control systems, which can be subsequently transformed into a vacuum version. It is the only company globally working on technology enabling a gradual implementation of Hyperloop-inspired solutions as an upgrade for therailway industry. The company has developed a unique, patent-pending magrail technology, which allows modernizing existing conventional railway lines to a standard of passive magnetic railways, reaching speed of 300 kph (186 mph) on normal lines and 415 kph (258 mph) on HSR lines. The magrail system allows keeping the functionality of conventional railways on a modernized line (railway operators can depreciate their existing rolling stock).Magrail can be subsequently transformed into a vacuum system – hyperrail, reaching speed of 600 kph (373 mph) on normal lines and 1000 kph (621 mph) on HSR lines.The third generation is hyperloop – vacuum magnetic railways built within new transportation corridors for top speed of 1200 kph (746 mph), using subsystems tested in the first two generations.Capex for retrofitting railway infrastructure to a magrail standard are estimated to ca. EUR 6-8 million per km, which is comparable to the cost of building a new highway and up to 60-70% lower than the average cost of building a new HSR line in the EU. Energy costs will be lower by ca. 13% for the speed of 300 kph (186 mph) compared to HSR, whole for the speed of 415 kph (258 mph) magrail needs the same amount of energy than HSR currently for 300 kph (186 mph). The maintenance costs will be ca. 25% lower than for HSR, due to elimination of friction of mechanical elements at high speeds.The company was founded in 2017 and until mid-2019 it submitted 8 patent applications. In the first half of 2019 it secured an EUR 3.8 million grant in Poland and raised EUR 334 thousands during the first Polish equity crowdfunding campaign on a UK-based platform Seedrs. Currently a Proof of Concept (PoC) is almost completed (ca. 50 m. long test track, which will be demonstrated in Q4.2019)., while at the turn of 2020 and 2021 a demonstration of the first full-scale prototype is planned.Corporate partners include TME Transfer Multisort Electronics and Microsoft. Key member of the R&D team is prof. Jacek F Gieras who has conducted research on Shinkansen SCMaglev at the Central Japan Railway Company. The company has got an international Advisory Board, including: Dorota Raben - expert in logistics & the former President of the Board of the Maritime Port of Gdansk SA, Amos Ron- former Director General at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure in Israel, and Vladas Lašas (also an early investor in Hyper Poland) who has co-founded Carbon War room together with Sir Richard Branson.

PGE Ventures is a CVC fund within the PGE Capital Group, which was established to invest in startups. The fund will invest in startups connected to energy value chain in order to gain financial and strategic leverage. We offer both the financial support and the know-how transfer in terms of PGE Group’s operations. We understand the needs of youngentrepreneurs and we can address them in a professional manner. We are open for cooperation with every startup which meets our investment criteria.Taking into account the possible level of PGE Ventures' involvement, as well as startups' capabilities to deliver specific solutions, projects will be sought, among others, in the area of: optimization of PGE's operations within entire Group's value chain; energy storage and clean generation technologies, incl. air quality control systems; IT and communication services, such as: Big Data, Smart Home, e-mobility, mobile apps, other products and services; enrichment of energy resources and utilization of combustion by-products.Organizations and foundations: We offer a model of cooperation based on strategic and business partnership. Organizations which can provide a base of startups, pool of experts and promotion channels for the PGE Ventures fund are particularly welcome.Incubators, accelerators and partners: We want to cooperate with incubators and technological accelerators within capability to obtain and improve startups. Startups from our portfolio are then provided with R&D infrastructure and substantive care of mature technology partners.VC funds: PGE Ventures fund does not exclude co-investments with other VC funds operating on Polish and foreign market. All potential co-investments will be analyzed in detail. Decisions on their implementation will be taken by the PGE Ventures Management Board.PGE Ventures invites to cooperation especially entrepreneurs, whose innovative projects have a chance to transform into profitable businesses. The National Research and Development Centre is an executive agency of the Minister of Science and Higher Education. It was established in summer 2007 as a unit realizing the tasks of scientific, scientific-technical and innovation policy. At the time of inception was the first unit of this type, created as a platform for effective dialogue betweenscience and business environment. Currently it operates under the Act of 30 April 2010 by the National Centre for Research and Development (Dz. U. 2010, No. 96 item. 616). Introduced in autumn 2010 reform of the science center has allowed greater freedom in disposing financial resources, within the framework of the strategic research agenda. An additional 1 September 2011, NRDC has expanded the scope of its activities with new initiatives and opportunities. Taking over from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education function of the Intermediate in three operational programs: Human Capital, Innovative Economy and Infrastructure and Environment, has become one of the largest centers supporting innovation in Poland. The Centre is funded by the Treasury and European Union funds.
