The Citizenship Fund started out when the founders of the company discovered in their previous positions that a promising Finnish growth company will spend a great deal of time and energy in arranging financing. A good business idea and a team with excellent team could take months in financial negotiations and the outcome could be a return to thestart-up. At the same time, investors often wanted new types of higher potential investments alongside traditional alternatives.These two challenges were possible by removing the promising growth companies as investors, even for non-traditional venture capital investors. Citizenship wanted to create a service in which the company would be able to capitalize on business quickly and flexibly, but the decision-making business would be left to the company itself.
