Joaquim Sérvulo Rodrigues has a BSc and an MSc in Electrotechnical Engineering from IST (Portugal), and an MBA from INSEAD (France). From 1983 to 1995 he was Assistant Professor at IST and Research Project Leader of INESC. From 1997 to 2000 he was the General Manager of the Direct Channels Department of BES. From 2004 to 2006, he was CEO ofCrediflash SA, the card business unit of the BES Group, and General Manager of the BES Consumer Credits Department. From the very beginning, back in 2000, Joaquim has put his vast experience at the service of many of our global portfolio companies, both from a technical standpoint – drawing on his electrical engineering background and work as a teacher at IST (Lisbon) and as a researcher at INESC (a reference Portuguese research institute) – and from a management standpoint – putting to use his seasoned business skills and sense, built on his curriculum at INSEAD and his long experience developing businesses in the Banco Espírito Santo Group. A reference in the Venture Capital community, as CEO of Espírito Santo Ventures, Joaquim challenges the strategy and oversees the globality of our entire portfolio while remaining personally involved in many of the companies we invest in, and his door is always open to advise the team on all of them.

Vasco de Mello is Chairman and CEO of BRISA – AUTO-ESTRADAS DE PORTUGAL, S.A. A manager by training, with a bachelor’s degree from the American College of Switzerland (1978), and the attendance of the “Training Program” at Citicorp, in New York, and Banco Crefisul de Investimentos, in S. Paulo, Brazil (1978-1979), Vasco de Mello has held numerousexecutive positions in companies of the José de Mello Group (1980-1991) and was Chairman of Banco Mello and Companhia de Seguros Império (1992-2000).
