  • Solmentum — Solmentum is now Gen110.Founded in 2009 by University of Chicago graduates Jason Brown and Jasper Platz, Solmentum provides affordable metered electricity similar to your current utility company. However, unlike that company, who probably gets its electricity from coal or natural gas, Solmentum is able to provide its customers with clean solarenergy. Here’s how it works: If you qualify, Solmentum installs solar panels on your roof. Because of recent energy programs at both the State and the Federal level, this process requires only a minimal upgrade fee. Also, because of our partnership with SunRun, a leading financing company for residential solar power, Solmentum is able to set up financing, or leasing, options with well qualified buyers. Finally, after the panels are installed, you are able to buy clean solar electricity at a guaranteed rate. In the current market, where energy costs are on the rise and expected to keep climbing, having a fixed rate for your energy bill provides both savings and peace of mind. Since its inception, Solmentum has provided this peace of mind to more than 1,000 happy homeowners in the form of over 5MW of electricity. Although headquartered in San Francisco, Solmentum has expanded rapidly and now has offices in the San Jose, Bakersfield, and Orange County regions.

Malcolm Turnbull Angel · Sydney, New South Wales, Australia · 2 investments in the past 12 months
Malcolm Bligh Turnbull is an Australian former politician who was the 29th Prime Minister of Australia from 2015 to 2018. He served twice as Leader of the Liberal Party, firstly from 2008 to 2009 when he was also Leader of the Opposition and a second time from 2015 to 2018. He was the MP for Wentworth in the House of Representatives from 2004 to2018.Turnbull graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws, before attending Brasenose College, Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, earning a Bachelor of Civil Law. For over two decades prior to entering politics, he worked as a journalist, lawyer, merchant banker, and venture capitalist. He served as Chair of the Australian Republican Movement from 1993 to 2000 and was one of the leaders of the unsuccessful "Yes" campaign in the 1999 republic referendum. He was first elected to the Australian House of Representatives for the Division of Wentworth in New South Wales at the 2004 federal election and was Minister for the Environment and Water from January 2007 until December 2007.After coming second in the 2007 leadership election, Turnbull won the leadership of the Liberal Party in September 2008 and became Leader of the Opposition. However, his support of the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme proposed by the Rudd Government in December 2009 led to a leadership challenge by Tony Abbott, who defeated Turnbull by a single vote. Though initially planning to leave politics after this, Turnbull chose to stay and was later appointed Minister for Communications in the Abbott Government following the 2013 federal election.Citing consistently poor opinion polling for the government, Turnbull resigned from the Cabinet on 14 September 2015 and challenged Abbott, reclaiming the leadership of the Liberal Party by ten votes. He was sworn in as Prime Minister of Australia the following day. At the 2016 federal election, Turnbull led the Coalition to victory by a single seat, the smallest majority since the 1961 federal election. In August 2018, a challenge by Peter Dutton led to two Liberal leadership spills. When the second spill motion passed on 24 August 2018, Turnbull did not contest the ballot and subsequently resigned as Prime Minister. Treasurer Scott Morrison defeated Dutton in the contest. Turnbull resigned from parliament on 31 August 2018, triggering a by-election in his former seat of Wentworth. The Liberal Party lost the by-election to independent candidate Kerryn Phelps, which resulted in the Coalition losing its majority in the House of Representatives.

  • Unima — Unima is decentralizing rapid testing across industries by taking diagnostics out of the lab to the place these are needed the most to secure a timely diagnostic for everyone, anywhere.Unima is solving is the centralization of lab testing, which limits the access to a timely diagnostic for billions. Current technology for diagnostics is veryprecise and can detect almost any disease known, but the problem is these require labs with expensive equipment and specialized technicians making lab testing impossible to scale up to provide universal and timely access to diagnostics. To solve this problem Unima developed Find, a rapid testing technology platform for real time diagnostics which allows anyone to diagnose a disease directly where it is needed, without using lab equipment, with results in 15 minutes or less and at a very low cost. With Find anyone can have access to a timely diagnostic even in the most remote areas of the world. The Find platform uses shark antibodies modified with genetic engineering to detect disease biomarkers in blood, saliva, urine or water samples. These shark antibodies are used in microfluidic cards and generate a visual reactions when in contact with specific biomarkers of the disease to be tested. Then to evaluate the result of the test, a picture of the testing card is taken with the proprietary Xplora smartphone app which runs image analysis process and neural network algorithms to generate an inmediate result. Then this result, along with contextual information like geolocation, date and time, is sent to a cloud server where it can be used for real time disease tracking.
