He focuses on investments with the Green Growth Fund.Before joining KPCB in 2009, Michael managed the alternative energy investing team within the European Special Situations Group (ESSG) at Goldman Sachs in London. Michael was responsible for a number of ESSG investments,including the German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex. Michael joined Goldman Sachs in 1997 as an analyst in the Financial Institutions Group, working out of the company’s Frankfurt and Hong Kong offices. In 2002, he joined the Structured and Principal Finance Group in London, where he focused on distressed portfolio transactions. Michael joined ESSG in 2003, initially working on German restructuring situations, then beginning in 2005, on investments in the alternative energy space. He was named managing director in 2007.
