Marian Bocek is a Series B investor at IPM Group in Bratislava focused on Robotics and Logistics. Marian is the Managing Partner of IPM, a UK-based fund management and advisory company, authorised and regulated by the United Kingdom Financial Conduct Authority to carry out investment advisory and arrangement activities. Since its inception, IPM has been mandated to advise on a number of asset-specific fund vehicles investing in large-scaleemerging markets infrastructure projects developed by elements of the Samsung Group. This has seen IPM sign agreements with (i) Samsung Asset Management (Korea’s largest asset manager with c.US$180bn assets under management); (ii) Samsung Life Insurance (Korea’s largest life insurance company with c.US$260bn assets under management); and, (iii) KDB KIAMCO – (Korea’s largest specialist asset management company with c.US$195bn assets under management). IPM has signed a Joint Venture Agreement with CEFC Jade Capital, a branch of a private Chinese Conglomerate with revenue of US$35bn (2014), headquartered in Shanghai with energy and financial services as its core business. Marian is a former Director of InfraMed Management and Board Director of the JWPC Wind Farm (Jordan), Lamsa Wind Farm (Jordan) and Hamitabat CCGT (Turkey). Prior to InfraMed, Marian executed principal transactions in oil and gas, mining, and infrastructure across global emerging markets (MENA, Latin America, SEE/CEE, Asia) for an Africa-focused multi-strategy hedge-fund, Nubuke Investments, in London, and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), an investment arm of the World Bank, in Washington, DC. Some of his realised investments in the MENA plus Turkey region include a US$1.4 billion debt and mezzanine financing in Enerjisa, Turkey's largest renewable energy portfolio to date; Metito, a pre-IPO equity stake in the largest desalination producer in the Middle East; and a number of public minority investments in global natural resource companies in Africa (Addax, Afren, Tullow Oil, Heritage Oil, Maridive, First Quantum, Katanga Mining, Orascom Construction, Verenex). Prior to that, Marian was with Lehman Brothers’ Global FIG M&A/Investment Banking team in New York, covering financial institutions in the United States and Europe. Marian holds a Master’s degree in Finance from Cambridge University and completed his undergraduate studies in economics at Oberlin College and Oxford University.
