Leo managed the database engineering team at Zip2, an online media firm, until it was acquired by AltaVista, prior to developing start-up companies from the ground up. Leo began his career at Oracle, where he held positions as an engineer and a senior manager, and was a member of the team that helped expand UNIX sales from less than $50 million to over a billion dollars in 1996. He was also a key figure in the development of the first web-based database management system, as well as the award-winning "self-tuning database" idea. Leo graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and a Master's degree in Operations Research from M.I.T.
