From 1988 to 2004, he also served on the board of directors of the BlueCrossBlueShield Association, sitting on many national committees and chairing its Plan Performance and Financial Standards Committee. He is also the former Chairman of the Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. Mr. Mead is currently a member of the board of directors of the Hershey Trust Company, the Milton Hershey School, the Milton S. Hershey Foundation, the Greater Harrisburg Foundation, Vitality Group, LLC, and Lebanon Valley College. Mr. Mead holds B.S. and M.A. degrees in economics from Penn State University and was appointed an Alumni Fellow of the University in 1986.
