In 2015, Takemoto and Masakazu Hashimoto (Osaka University) developed a simple and highly efficient method for producing genetically modified(genome-edited) mice using CRISPR / Cas9, and filed a patent application for the technology. The technology is called fertilized egg electroporation (GEEP method), a technology that introduces molecules required for genome editing by CRISPR into fertilized eggs at high throughput by the power of electricity (electroporation).
