América Móvil now operates in eighteen countries and has a total subscriber base of 182.7 million. Since its inception, the company has expanded quickly through a combination of organic growth and acquisitions. América Móvil has had very accelerated subscriber growth for the last years and has increased its market share in the region from the low twenties in 2000 to more than 42% in the fourth semester of 2008. Within this frame, licensed POPs in Latin America went from 137 million to 500 million.
