América Móvil is a VC fund in Mexico City focused on Apps and Music. América Móvil, S.A.B. de C.V. (AMX), is Latin America´s largest wireless company and, in terms of equity subscribers the third largest wireless provider in the world. SMS (short message service), MMS (multimedia message service), mobile connection, localization services, info, entertainment, internet access, and BlackBerry:tm: service are justsome of the wireless voice and data services that América Móvil provides. The company was formed in September 2000 as a result of a spin-off from Telmex (Teléfonos de México S.A. de C.V.), Mexico’s largest provider of local and long-distance telephone services. At that time, América Móvil had operations in México, Guatemala, Ecuador and the United States and was serving approximately 10.1 million customers. América Móvil now operates in eighteen countries and has a total subscriber base of 182.7 million. Since its inception, the company has expanded quickly through a combination of organic growth and acquisitions. América Móvil has had very accelerated subscriber growth for the last years and has increased its market share in the region from the low twenties in 2000 to more than 42% in the fourth semester of 2008. Within this frame, licensed POPs in Latin America went from 137 million to 500 million.
