Amit Singhal is a senior vice president and software engineer at Google Inc., a Google Fellow, and the head of Google’s core ranking team. He has worked in the field of search for over fifteen years, first as an academic researcher and now as a Google engineer. His research interests include information retrieval, its application to web search, webgraph analysis, and user interfaces for search. Prior to joining Google in 2000, Amit was a senior member of technical staff at AT&T LabsSinghal is also the author of two publications: Efficient Multicast Algorithms for Switch based Irregular Heterogeneous Networks of Workstations and Terabit Switching: A survey of Techniques and Current Products.Singhal obtained his bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from IIT Roorkee, India, and his M.S. from the University of Minnesota. He also holds a Ph.D.in computer science from Cornell University.
