He has helped integrate several acquired businesses during his career.He regularly engages in the communities in which he has lived and holds an honorary doctorate from the International University in Geneva, as well as an honorary ambassadorship from Hyogo Prefecture and Kobe City, Japan for which he developed a marketing strategy to attract more foreign direct investments. Werner Geissler has served as Vice Chairman of Global Operations at Procter & Gamble since July 2007.After earning an MBA at the University of Cologne (Germany), Mr Geissler joined Procter & Gamble Germany in 1979 as Assistant Brand Manager. He progressed to Brand Manager of Meister Proper (1982) and Pampers (1983), became Marketing Manager of Procter & Gamble Germany (1985-1988) and then Marketing Director of Procter & Gamble Netherlands (1988-1989). Moving back to Germany, he became Category Manager, Detergents (1989-1991) and then General Manager, Cosmetics and Fragrances (1991-1994). This was followed by a series of more senior management postions: Vice President and General Manager, Fine Fragrances-Western Hemisphere, Procter & Gamble Europe (1994-1996), Vice President and General Manager, Tissue/Towel and Cotton Products-Germany, Procter & Gamble Europe, Middle East and Africa (1996-1997), Vice President and General Manager, Laundry, Cleaning and Paper Products-Germany, Procter & Gamble Europe, Middle East and Africa (1997-1998), Vice President and General Manager, Turkey/Caucasia/Central Asia (1998-2001), President, Northeast Asia (2001-2004), and, prior to his current position, Group President, Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (2004-2007).Mr Geissler is also advisor to the Governor of Hyogo Prefecture (Japan) and a member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.He serves on the Executive Board of Lausanne-based IMD, the leading global institution for senior management education.
