The major crops affected in India are capsicum, tomato, chilli, okra, gherkins, muskmelon, watermelon, carnations, roses, gerbera and anthuriums. Nematode problems in these crops have reached an unprecedented level, wherein a loss of about 80% in crop yield has been reported in crops grown in protected conditions. It has also been reported that, nematode infestation makes the crop more sensitive to fungal infestations which leads to an increased crop loss.
