Born in 1971 in Ankara, Borançılı graduated from Istanbul Technical University with a degree in Architecture. After working as a freelance architect, he founded ARKInformation Technologies with Burak Divanlıoğlu in 1999. Up to 2004 GittiGidiyor was administered by ARK. Borançılı is also the co-founder of UzmanTV, a video website specializing in curated content by experts, and Istanbul.net, Turkey's largest online dating platform. Borançılı is also the first investor in BiTaksi, Turkey's leading taxi-hailing app. Since, he has also invested in Modacruz, a marketplace for secondhand luxury fashion.
