He has led the Nidus Center for Scientific Enterprise in St. Louis, the Arizona Technology Incubator (ATI), and the Boulder Technology Incubator (BTI) in Colo. During Dr. Calcaterra’s tenure at these three institutions, he helped foster the creation of more than 50 companies and raised more than $250 million in equity financing.Dr. Calcaterra founded the BioGenerator, a St. Louis-based, not-for-profit seed and commercialization fund, and the Arch Angel Network, where he currently serves as president. He also has been the CEO for one medical device companies, CardiaLen, Inc. where he sits on the board of directors. He is on the board of directors of two pharmaceutical company, Galera Therapeutics, LLC and Euclises Inc., a CRO SARmont Inc, and a nutriceuticals company in Maine called Maine Medicinals.He has been involved in raising nearly $45M equity financing over the last 4 years in these five companies and is a co-founder of three. Dr. Calcaterra has been an adjunct faculty member at the University of Colorado, Arizona State University and in the Biomedical Engineering Department at Washington University in St. Louis and consultant for diverse public and private institutions.Prior to specializing in enabling start-up companies to succeed and grow, Dr. Calcaterra worked for several Fortune 500 companies in research and development, licensing and quality assurance, including Adolph Coors Co where he was Director of Research and Development, QA and Licensing, Amoco Corp., Alcoa Corp., and Monsanto Company.An active and focused community leader, Dr. Calcaterra currently sits on the boards of the Missouri Venture Forum, Invest Midwestl Venture Forum and the College of Arts and Sciences Dean’s Advisory Board at Webster University. He also has been a board member of the Coalition for Plant and Life Sciences, St. Louis Capital Alliance and on the Advisory Board to the Bio-Molecular and Chemical Engineering Dept. at the University of Nebraska.
