Mr Quek Gim Pew is the Chief Executive Officer of DSO National Laboratories since Feb 2004.He graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons 1 st Class) in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science (Distinction) in Electrical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School, USA in 1986.Mr Quekspends his entire career in defence science and technology. He has worked in Special Project Office (MINDEF), DSO and Defence Science & Technology Agency (DSTA). In his early years, he managed defence acquisition before becoming an R&D engineer in sensor & signal processing. He moved on to manage defence R&D in DSO before becoming the Director of the Directorate of R&D, DSTA in 1997. In this capacity, he managed the Ministry R&D budget and was responsible for the master-planning and build-up of defence R&D capabilities for MINDEF/SAF.In his career, Mr Quek was presented with numerous awards, including the Defence Technolgy Prize (Individual), the Public Administration Medals (Silver, Bronze and Gold).Currently, Mr Quek also holds positions in the following boards and committees:• Director, DSO National Laboratories• Deputy Chairman, Science Centre Board• Director, ATREC Pte Ltd• Director, ST Electronics (Satellite Systems) Pte Ltd• Member, Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) Board of Governors• Chairman, Engineering Advisory Committee, NYP• Director, School of Science and Technology , Singapore• Member, Management Board of TL@SUTD• Various Management Boards and Advisory Committees in NUS & NTU.
