Born in Beirut in 1960, Philippe Jabre hails from Beit Chebab in the Metn region. He attended Notre Dame de Jamhour before studying at the American University of Beirut. Forced to relocate to Canada in 1978 following the outbreak of the Lebanese Civil War, he earned a Bachelor’s (BA) degree in economics from Concordia University in Montreal before graduating with honours and an MBA from Columbia Business School in New York. Spanning more than four decades, Philippe Jabre’s career in finance saw him establish himself as a prominent figure in asset management and international investment. After playing a pivotal role as a partner and portfolio manager at GLG Partners in London, overseeing the firm’s flagship investment fund, Philippe Jabre branched out on his own, founding Jabre Capital Partners in 2006. Under his leadership, the firm has catered to a prestigious global clientele, at one point managing multi-billion-dollar investment portfolios for family offices, institutional investors and high-net-worth individuals.In 2021, Philippe Jabre acquired a majority stake in Almaza – the iconic family-owned Lebanese brewery – from the Heineken Group, of which he remains the majority owner and Chairman.Outside of his professional life, Philippe Jabre is a committed philanthropist. In 2001, he founded the Association Philippe Jabre, a non-profit organisation established to address the needs of underprivileged individuals in Lebanese society, with a particular focus on promoting access to higher education.
