He worked in the corporate finance division on capital raising and M&A advisory mandates in the industrial sector. In 2006, Paul joined Sampoerna Capital to help set up the family’s private equity arm following the sale of its tobacco business, HM Sampoerna, to Altria Group (Philip Morris International). Investments were undertaken across a range of businesses in the retail, online gaming, financial services and commodities sectors. Paul held a number of Board positions during this time including at LA-based, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.Between 2011 and 2014, Paul served as Investment Director for a UK based family office active in the property and commodities sectors as well as establishing a division within the office focused on technology-driven start-ups, principally with a UK focus.
