Nesrin Elsawi is a startup investor at Koru in Berlin. Nesrin was born and raised in Zurich, Switzerland to Egyptian parents. Nesrin holds a dual degree in computer science and psychology from the University of Nebraska specializing in human-computer interaction and an Executive MBA from the California State University. Nesrin began her career 13 years ago in information security for a Fortune 500company and a short stint in web development for a tiny startup before finding her passion in product. She spent over 5 years with a California-based startup (now part of Trimble Inc.) specializing in B2B custom solutions for top AEC companies worldwide where she held multiple roles focused on product and consulting and eventually ran daily operations. Nesrin developed the first of its kind mobile product for the AEC industry which was used for building projects such as the Encore Tower in Las Vegas, the Arizona Cardinals stadium, nuclear plants in Africa, US military bases, and the Australian secret service HQ. After returning to Europe, Nesrin joined Reed-Elsevier in Amsterdam to develop a new custom product suite for multi-billion dollar funding bodies, among them the US National Institute for Health, the UK Medical Research Council and the Wellcome Trust, and the top academic institutions. In 2013, Nesrin made the jump into e-commerce heading up product, design and UX at easytobook.com, an international accommodations site. Before joining BCG Digital Venture to take the role as CPO in new ventures, Nesrin was Head of Product and interim CTO for Berlin-based Outfittery.
