These efforts helped to pass legislation despite a polarized U.S. Congress, including the Electrify Africa Act, a public-private initiative to bring electricity to more than 50 million people in sub-Saharan Africa by 2020. Her work took her around the world, campaigning in Africa, Europe and North America. She began her career at Direct Impact in Washington, D.C., Burson-Marsteller’s grassroots communications agency.A native of Alexandria, Virginia, Michaela is based in New York City and is a graduate of Colgate University, where she double-majored in Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies.
