Markus Kissler-Patig is a startup investor at European Space Agency in Madrid. Markus Kissler-Patig is the Head of Science and Operations at the European Space Agency. He obtained his PhD in astrophysics in 1997 from the University of Bonn and held post-doctoral positions at the University of California Santa Cruz and the European Southern Observatory. He joined the latter as faculty in 2000 as instrument scientist for aseries of instruments for the VLT. In 2008, he took up the position of project scientist for the E-ELT and joined Gemini in 2012. He is an adjunct professor and has been teaching at the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich between 2005 and 2012.
