Prior to Philips, Dr. Gu was the General Manager of DePuy (2003-2005) at J & J Medical China, the Franchise Head of Cordis at J & J Medical China, and the Director of global product management at Cordis U.S. (1997-2002). During his tenure at DePuy and Cordis, Dr. Gu and his team drove the sales to number-one in China. Earlier in his career, Dr. Gu was a Marketing Manager of Zimmer China (1994-1997), responsible for the Eastern China Market.Dr. Gu is the deputy chairman of the standing committee of the medical device branch of Chinese Stomatology Association (CSA) and member of the editorial board for "China Spine". Currently, Dr. Gu also serves as an expert and advisor on committees for Chinese government that oversees regulation and policies on medical device industry.
