While earlier, the LNG and renewable energy opportunities were looked into as stand- alone investments, under his leadership, these are emerging as self-sustaining verticals, and as a value generating chain integrated into the energy business in totality. In order to draw focus on each business, the BD&JV department was reorganized into separate verticals like Power, Refinery / Petrochem business, LNG, SEZ etc., with a view to identify opportunities faster and to effectively implement them. Under the leadership of Mr. Jamestin, instead of merely reacting to encountered opportunities, focus has shifted to proactively identifying, chasing and realizing best available business opportunities.Dir. Two major petrochemical joint ventures OPaL and OMPL are making good progress and are expected to be commissioned in 2014, OMPL in the first quarter, and OPaL in the last. The C2-C3 plant which provides feedstock for OPaL and the Naphtha pipeline from Hazira are expected to be commissioned in tune with the main OPaL project time lines. The other joint ventures like Dahej SEZ, Mangalore SEZ and PMHBL are progressing well. DSEZ has commenced generating positive cash flows, and PMHBL has for the first time crossed 100 crore turnover mark. The existing 51 MW wind farm in Gujarat is performing to capacity and the upcoming 102 MW wind farm at Rajasthan is expected to be part commissioned by end of the current financial year.Under his leadership, ONGC is entering a totally new area i.e. of LNG, comprising gas marketing, setting up a gasification plant at Mangalore by an ONGC led JV, and also acquiring stakes in other upcoming gasification terminals across the country. Efforts are on to secure the upstream linkages as well, like booking liquefaction capacities abroad and gas sourcing arrangements.Earlier on, it was under Mr. Jamestin’s stewardship that one of the largest SAP implementations in the world at that point of time was implemented in ONGC. This Implementation was a unique project Management case with more than 250 locations and 35000 users and 23 business modules, covering all major business processes of ONGC. This project was extremely challenging in terms of integration of several standalone legacy systems, and the complexity associated with data cleaning, migration and cut-over and change management, aspects, through a systematic process. Through effective planning project monitoring, control risk management and mitigation measures, this project was completed in the given time lines without any time and cost and cost over-runs. This implementation won IPMA Award 2005 and the SAP jury award for best managed in SAP project from among the world projects at that point of time.Under the leadership of Mr. Jamestin, HR initiatives like Fair wages for contractual workmen and the ‘Sahayog Yojana’ for provide succor to employees – regular and secondary, in times of need – medical, education, marriage of daughter - have been introduced. Also introduced scheme Asha Kiran Scheme for extending financial assistance to the employees retired prior to 01.01.2007 for taking care of their emergency needs– the innovative and well-crafted social security schemes becoming benchmarked welfare initiatives in the industry. He is also instrumental in achieving landmark improvement in office and township infrastructure through sustained and innovative policy interventions and monitoring (5 Green Buildings being developed with a total area of 1,31,000 sq.mt at a cost of Rs 1536 Crore).
