In addition, Mr. Masterson redesigned the Company’s intellectual property department and led its compliance efforts in the many areas critical to operating in the healthcare industry, including the establishment of a Medicare Fraud and Abuse compliance program.Mr. Masterson joined the Kendall Healthcare Products Company, the foundation of Covidien (formerly known as Tyco Healthcare), in 1993 and was named chief legal officer of Covidien in 1999.Before joining the organization, Mr. Masterson was a Junior Partner at Nutter, McClennen & Fish in Boston, where he specialized in securities law, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and other general corporate legal matters.Mr. Masterson received a Bachelor’s degree from Columbia University (New York) and a Juris Doctor degree from New York University Law School.
