Havis Kwon is a startup investor at LG Electronics. Havis Kwon was appointed President of LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company on October 1, 2010.Prior to this appointment, Mr. Kwon was Executive Vice President and Head of LG Electronics’ LCD TV business since 2007.Mr. Kwon first joined LG Electronics, then Goldstar, in 1980 in their TV manufacturing department. He then spent the next fewyears in Goldstar Semiconductor’s computer division business, working on mergers and acquisitions. From 1984, he rose through the ranks at Goldstar, overseeing the development of products including office automation devices as well as sales for Goldstar’s PC and monitor division.In 1993, Mr. Kwon was appointed Director of PC Marketing at Goldstar. He then took a position overseas as the Product Manager of Intelligence Devices in LG’s Paris office in 1995 (Goldstar became part of LG Group in 1995). In 1998, he was appointed Head of PC Manufacturing, and two years later was promoted to Vice President. Mr. Kwon took over LG’s Digital Information Display (monitor) business soon after and in 2002, was promoted to Executive Vice President of the DID business. Since 2004, he has been managing the TV and monitor division for LG’s Digital Display Company, which was renamed the Home Entertainment Company in 2009.Mr. Kwon graduated from Korea University in 1981 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.In 2004, he was honored by then-Korean President Moo-hyun Roh for his work in promoting the industry.In 2006, Kwon was appointed Policy Advisor for the government’s Cooperative System to endorse technological leadership and productivity in businesses and academic institutions through coalition, cooperation and support in educational or research activities.
