Gordon Bell is a startup investor at QUBIS. Prior to his retirement Gordon was Managing Director of Liberty Information Technology Limited, the Belfast-based subsidiary of US Fortune 100 organisation, Liberty Mutual Group. Set up to provide software development resources to its parent, Gordon was instrumental in attracting Liberty Mutual to invest in N Ireland and in establishing and growingthe Belfast operation, which today employs 300+ software engineers.Gordon was previously a full time consultant to the Industrial Development Board for N.Ireland (now InvestNI), acting as Inward Investment Director for the software sector. He played a critical role in attracting and securing investments by a number of software Companies.Gordon was, for many years, a main board director and shareholder in the ICS Computing Group, then Northern Ireland’s largest computing services group. He was the founding Managing Director of the ICS Group subsidiary, Software Ireland Ltd.A graduate in Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics from The Queen’s University of Belfast, Gordon is a Fellow of the British Computer Society and a Chartered Engineer. He has been Chairman of the British Computer Society and the Institute of Software Engineering. He was a founding director of Momentum – Northern Ireland’s software trade association. He has received the British Computer Society Award for Northern Ireland Computing Professional of the Year.
