Fred had worked as general manager, Chief Executive Officer and Board member for international industrial companies and as an entrepreneur. Prior to his executive roles he started his career with Royal Dutch Shell in marketing and trading positions. Hisindustry experience ranges from oil, chemicals and industrial gas to packaging, logistics and shipping with companies such as Linde and Smurfit Kappa. He also successfully managed some business turn around situations. His experience is highly international with emphasis on Europe and emerging economies. He assisted in updating the sustainability strategy of Dow Jones Sustainability Index leader AkzoNobel and served as director innovation and strategic marketing of this global coatings and chemicals company. Fred serves on the investment advisory council of an international clean tech fund and on the Dutch ministerial bio renewable and business platform. His entrepreneurial activities are in health promotion and distributed energy. More recent Fred also started to act in public private roles to promote economic transition and the introduction of clean technologies. His expertise is in sustainability as business driver and innovation, as well as scaling up ventures. His interests are, among others, the role of business leadership for a more sustainable world, executive vitality and next level innovation practices. Fred is Board member of the Young President’s Organisation (YPO) Sustainability network, member of the European Leadership Platform and and Board member of hydropower company Aquazoom. He also is a Board member of the Erasmus University Center of Future Energy, Holland circular hotspot and Investment committee member of regional development company Oost NL. He participates in strategy group working on a Roadmap Next Economy with TIR, the consultancy of Jeremy Rifkin and on goverment advisory panel about transitions. Fred is Managing partner of Venture Capital firm Chrysalix and builds a global braintrust around emerging intelligent technologies and solutions that will disrupt a variety of industries and lead to next level productivity and sustainability.
