Fiona Kinghorn is a startup investor at Btomorrow Ventures. Experienced company director and CFO with a proven record of building and funding SMEs. I’ve worked across the technology sector spectrum from financial services, energy to healthcare as an entrepreneur, business professional and corporate adviser. While primarily based in the UK, I have established and operated international businesses includingthe US. I’m passionate about finding business ideas that solve real problems and transforming those ideas into something of real commercial value. Consequently, I have considerable experience in developing and implementing corporate and financial strategies. I’m also extremely pragmatic and a highly effective problem solver. My wide range of financial and commercial skills makes me particularly effective in startups. These skills include creating and implementing the myriad of systems and cost controls from Companies House reporting, budgeting, commercial and employment contracts, licensing and IP, banking facilities, tax planning to EMI Options and HR systems. For my sins, I have also implemented ISO 27001 compliant Information Security Management Systems from scratch to successful audit I have created and presented strategic business plans and financial models that have been used to raise in excess of £30m in external funding. I have a detailed knowledge of EIS and SEIS schemes as well as considerable experience of fund raising in London’s markets in general, and AIM in particular. I have also successfully managed numerous corporate finance transactions including IPOs, reverse takeovers and M&A. Strong finance professional with a MBA from University of the Witwatersrand and a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.
