Fabrizio Palermo is a startup investor at Acea. Born in Perugia, Italy in 1971, Fabrizio Palermo is an Italian manager and businessman. He is the current Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Acea, an Italian group operating in the water, environmental, and energy sectors. It also controls Italy’s fourth-largest engineering company. After graduating with honors in Economics andBusiness from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” (1994), Fabrizio Palermo began his professional career in London as a financial analyst at Morgan Stanley (Investment Banking Division). In 1998, he joined McKinsey & Company as a strategic consultant, specialising in restructuring, transformation, and turnaround projects for major industrial and financial groups. After seven years, he moved to Fincantieri Group, where he was appointed to several top executive roles: he was first Business Development and Corporate Finance Director, then Chief Financial Officer (2006-2014), and finally Deputy General Manager (2011-2014). During his career, he has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of CDP Equity S.p.A., board member of Fincantieri USA Inc., Vard Group AS, Vard Holdings Limited, Open Fiber S.p.A., and a member of the Italian Recovery Fund Investors Committee and of the Fondo Atlante Investors Committee. He has also been a member of the Board of Directors of Assonime, Board Member of the Centro Studi Americani, member of the Advisory Board of the Italian Presidency of B20, and is Co-Chairman of the Italy-China Business Forum. In 2014, Fabrizio Palermo joined Cassa Depositi e Prestiti as Chief Financial Officer, and in 2018, he was appointed CEO and General Manager, roles he held until May 2021, also serving as CEO of CDP Reti S.p.A. and Co‑Chair of the Italy‑China Business Forum. In 2019, he was awarded the title of Commander of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. Fabrizio Palermo was appointed CEO and General Manager of Acea S.p.A. in May 2023, where he had already held the position of Chief Executive Officer since September 2022. Since 2007, he has carried out academic activities at LUISS Guido Carli as Assistant Professor for the “Planning and Control” Course and subsequently as MBA Adjunct Professor for the “Corporate Finance” course. Fabrizio Palermo has been a Board Member of Assicurazioni Generali since April 24, 2025, where he also serves as Chairman of the Related-Party Transactions Committee.
