He served as the chairman of the joint committee of the Radiological Society of North America Society (RSNA) and the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) that developed calibration standards for devices displaying diagnostic-quality digital-radiology images. This work on imaging standards enabled the widespread adoption of digital radiology and PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications Systems). Recently he was a founder and CEO of KDH Systems. KDH's products are designed to address one of the most critical problems of clinical research and new drug development: delays and failures of research studies due to inadequate patient enrollment. Their product, PatientLocate, finds patients for clinical trials at the point-of-care by matching near-real-time patient data with the specific inclusion and exclusion criteria of clinical trials and studies.He earned his BSEE from the University of California, Berkeley in 1967.
