In 1994, he received his PhD in biochemistry in the field of neurobiology and afterwards he worked as an associate professor in the department of cardiovascular physiology at the University of Cologne. In 1996 he was cofounder of Cardion AG and since that time Dr. Herrmann has founded sevenbiotechnology companies which he also led as the CEO. In 2002 Dr. Herrmann took over Celonic GmbH and re-structured the company towards a profitable contract development and manufacturing company (CDMO) with about 70 employees at two sites. In 2011 the Celonic AG in Switzerland was sold and Baliopharm AG (Basel) was created as spin-out companies.
