He also draws on his vast network of industry connections to oversee the activities of the Building Ventures Innovators Network for the firm.Prior to Building Ventures, Allen was an Operating Partner at Borealis Ventures and a member of the firm’s Built Environment Investment Team. He was responsible for starting and growing the Borealis Ventures presence on the West Coast from San Francisco.Prior to joining Borealis, Allen was a co-founder and Chief Product Officer at Newforma, a Borealis portfolio company, where he led the team that built the industry’s leading AEC Project Information Management solution. He then spent 3+ years in London as VP of Global Strategy to help establish Newforma as the market leader in the UK and lead the localization effort for market entry to Continental Europe.Prior to Newforma, Allen was a Product Manager at Autodesk working on the company’s first generation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) products. He came to Autodesk through its acquisition of Softdesk, where as Managing Director in Singapore he led the company’s expansion into Asia Pacific.Allen is a San Francisco Bay Area native. He graduated with a BA in Economics and Math from Occidental College.
