In 2000, he was appointed Country Director for the Slovak Republic (based in Bratislava), with the addition of Hungary and Slovenia from 2004. In March 2006, he was appointed Business Group Director, Infrastructure. In October 2007 he took responsibility for the establishment of the EBRD Shareholder Special Fund and was responsible for the Official Co-financing Unit. He assumed his current position in January 2011.An Austrian national, Mr Auboeck graduated from the Wirtschaftsuniversitaet Vienna and holds a PhD in Economics. He was a guest student at the College of Commerce in St Gallen, Switzerland, and at the George Washington University, Washington, D.C.
